Outlook 2007 Calendar Question Has anyone figured out how to print an Outlook 07 calendar without the "notes" in the body of the meeting printing? I am new to Outlook 07 - and when I print my executive's calendar I just want the meeting start/end times, subject, and location to show. thanks Kathy Morgan 8/30/2010 8:23:06 AM4
Reports versus Powerpoint Presentations Traditionally, our executives have worked solely with MS PowerPoint for submitting all of their regular reports. We are on the cusp of a "cultural" change now. We want to shift to submitting comprehensive reports by departmental team, along with minimal PowerPoint presentations for impact. What are the best report programs out there? I just hate working with MS Word, so if there's a better template or program that creates crisp reports, please let me know. These reports would be bound down the left hand spine or put into 3-ring binders. Senior EA-Business Writer 8/24/2010 8:51:31 AM4
Unused Dell Toner Cartridge I have two unused Dell Toner Cartridges for a Dell W5300 part #M2925 that someone in my office bought too long ago to return for credit. I've been searching for a place to swap for other valuable office supplies, or other wanted office item to get some value out of them. Does anyone have any suggestions? Dave Parady's Power Point Tips Dave Parady is a Power Point guru who shows people how to take data and present it in a form that makes it easier for people to understand and more interesting. His site is replete with exciting new ideas that make me feel more creative, so I thought I'd share his web address. He has a series of video podcasts that have excellent information. I've already learned numerous tips, like taking bulleted data and converting it to a bar chart, or ensuring that your title conveys the message you want people to remember, not simply a general heading. His site is: www.thinkoutsidetheslide.com You can watch his videos on www.My.Brainshark.com Enjoy! LindaPNW Lynda PNW 6/1/2010 12:50:52 PM1
What Software Do You Use to Design Organizational Charts? If you wanted to design a complex organizational chart for a Power Point presentation, what software would you use? I've tried to design one on Power Point, but I am having problems with alignment of the connecting lines. I have been using a straight line shape to connect the boxes, but it is difficult to reduce the length and make them align. Any tips? MS Project Alternatives? From July to Year-End, my President and his subordinates kick into full gear with the Annual Operating Plan & Strategic Planning process. With this process, there are key deliverables that need focused attention ahead of time. It is MY goal to avoid hearing my President say, "Why do we go through this last-minute stuff every time we do this?" He has asked me to help him stay ahead of the curve in communicating and tracking the expectations. MS Project is not an option. I could implement a SharePoint site, and we may go that route, but does anybody have any planning tools and timeline templates that have worked in the past for long-term reporting projects like this? Following Your Boss Has anyone followed their executive to a new job? My CEO boss is being recruited for another position in our community with more responsibility, prestige, and money. I know that he would like for me to go with him, although he is careful not to "solicit" me away from our present organization. I am very confortable in my job here but would be willing to go with him, assuming all is favorable. Either way, I will have changes in store for me, whether I go or stay on with a new boss. My boss is great; smart and well-respected in our field and I enjoy working for him. But what are the caveats for this situation? What are the ground rules for negotiating a new salary here? Any advice? Megan 3/7/2010 9:20:26 AM5
Travel Reimbursement I told my boss that employees cannot include mileage between home and business on their travel expense forms. For example, if they drive to the airport, they have to deduct the number of miles they would have normally driven to and from work that day. I'm quite sure that it's a federal regulation, but she wants proof, and I'm having difficulty finding it. Thanks for your help. Susan Hudson 3/4/2010 10:18:57 AM15
Calendar Management Is there a way to add an updated hyperlink attachment to a recurring weekly meeting without having the attendees to accept the meeting invitation a second time. For example, we have a standing weekly directors’ meeting every Tuesday with an agenda. I copy the updated agenda into the organizer’s calendar as hyperlink and send the meeting as an update. Well, the executive director is a bit tired of having to accept the meeting each week and wants me to research a way to include the agenda on the organizer’s calendar or find a way to get the agenda on everyone’s calendar without having to accept the meeting invitation each time. Please assist. Thank you. Anonymous 2/25/2010 6:46:46 AM10
Conference Notes Does anyone have a recommendation for a netbook or laptop for taking notes during conference meetings? We have several appts that take place over a couple days. The meetings last about 30 minutes and my responsibility is to jot down the action items and important follow up information for each meeting. I end up taking notes, then going back to the hotel room that night and enter them into my laptop (if I have time!). If I don't have time that night, it snowballs and tends to be harder to capture. Any ideas on a lightweight option and pros/cons? Lucky Admin 2/3/2010 8:22:10 AM9
iPhone and Calendaring Hi! If anyone is using the iPhone with a calendar system, I would be greatly interested to hear what you are using and how satisfied you are with it. My boss uses an iPhone for his phone and calendar. For the calendar, we use an Apple application, Mobile Me. It allows two of us in the office to simultaneously have his calendar open on our PCs....a very nice feature! When we make changes, they are automatically updated to his iPhone; when he makes changes, they are automatically updated to the Mobile Me. However, we recently have been having issues with the calendar reverting to previous days (losing all the current information)...what a nightmare!!!! We spoke with a senior rep at Mobile Me who told us that our issues relate to: 1) Not using a Mac, 2) making too many changes and, 3) setting up recurring events. Well, we are not planning to purchase Macs for the office, we cannot help it that there are many changes, and we don't want to individually set up every recurring... Business Cards & Stationary Could someone please recommend a business card and stationary vendor. We want good quality, but not overly expensive. Jessica Ratter 12/29/2009 10:16:05 AM5
MS Word Application Is anyone familiar with how to turn a Word document into a booklet? One of our clients would like us to take the 29-page employee handbook we prepared as a standard document and put it into booklet format. Can this even be done?? FYI - The original document was created in version 2007 and I'm using Word for Mac 2008 (just to make it more of a challenge!). Thanks! Patricia Harrison 12/22/2009 9:04:30 AM4
Is anyone familiar with Microsoft Access? I'm an Admin. Asst. for a hospital quality control dept. I use Microsoft Access to build databases and reports. I have learned a lot just by doing it and using the Microsft online discussion board. But I would like to know if anyone else is using it and for what? I'm hoping to take a class at our Jr. College as soon as it becomes available. Does anyone have any pointers they would like to share? Thanks, Dawn Schulz 12/6/2009 2:15:49 PM3
Microsoft Office 2007 New to Company and Training My company is preparing to implement Microsoft Office 2007 from 2002. We will need to conduct training sessions for some. For those of you who have already gone through this process, I'm interested to know what training methods your company used for their staff. If you have other tips for implementation, please feel free to share, i.e., how long did your implementation process take, how many staff were trained... Thank you for your time. eapmember 12/2/2009 10:29:57 AM3
Adding an Electronic Signature Currently, I am using PhotoShop to add my supervisor's signature to an MS Word document, and then saving it as a PDF. When I use this method to add his signature, the PDF that is created looks fuzzy and the margins get messed up. What is the best way to add someone's electronic signature to a document, and then save it as a PDF with a crisp, neat, and centered appearance? Senior EA-Business Writer 11/2/2009 12:53:43 PM0
Headphones for teleconferences Go online and look for Plantroncis. It's an earphone that is attached to your phone, and you'll have an earpiece also. We are unsure of the model number, but there is a few numbers that might be helpful...they are: CS50 (Cat Sam 5 Zero) and BS643297 . Hope this helps. Jean Shook 9/30/2009 12:58:24 PM1
Headphones for teleconferences I work from home, so most of my meetings and conferences are done by cell phone. I need to get a pair of headphones to get the cell phone away from my head (and to save my neck). I have a hard time hearing some of my regular meetings, so I need a good pair of headphones that are really clear and conform to my ears completely. Short of high-end models, like those by Bose, are there any really good, affordable headphones out there that you'd recommend? Kathleen Newton 9/28/2009 11:25:19 AM3
Postage I work for a small company and we are currently renting a postage machine. My boss had asked me to take a look at Stamps.com and I was wondering if there was someone/company that uses this? We are trying to weight the pros and cons. Thank you, Sherrie Anonymous 5/12/2009 9:56:57 AM5
Using Excel instead of Quickbooks Hi Everyone. Anyone who could tell me how to show where one owner paid for parts and supplies and another made off with the sales receipts and those parts? This owner refuses to use wants the entries in Excel not Quickbooks because he doesn't understand it. Kelly Watkins 4/12/2009 1:48:38 PM1
Expense Statement I have been charged with re-creating our expense statement. The statement is used by employees when they travel or when they need to be reimbursed for misc. purchases. The form we currently use was created in Excel and is pretty sophisticated. We have a column for procurement/prepaid charges, miles travel, registration, lodging, airfare, vehicle rental, gas, meals, and misc. charges. Formulas are used to calculate mileage, and total the entire statement. I need to make some changes, and will likely need to recreate the entire form. I have been told that Excel allows you to prompt a user (ask questions), and then plug that information into the spreadsheet. I haven't done any research on that yet, but am thinking that may be helpful. So, my plea to you: 1. Do you have an expense statement (travel or otherwise) that I can view? 2. Do you have any experience/suggestions when working with forms (what works or doesn't work) that would be helpful? 3. Do you have any suggesti... Janel Veeser 2/5/2009 1:45:28 PM5

Powerpoint 2007 - How to reapply slide layout simply Hello Everyone: Does anyone have any suggestions on the simplest way to reapply the slide layout in Powerpoint 2007. We keep encountering problems where the slidemaster(s) aren't applying properly. In 2003, it was really simple to go to format, slide layout, reapply formatting, which is not the case here in 2007. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Kendra Kendra Lewis 10/24/2008 11:01:29 AM1

MS Project I have a question that maybe someone could help answer. I am hoping to take a class on MS Project at my current job. It's only offered to managers and supervisors at this point. I would like to expand my knowledge of Miscrosoft offerings, along with increase my value as an assistant and possible look into wmving into a project manager position at some point. One of my supervisors is wondering how I could use MS Project in my current role....any thoughts. Karen Clendenin 9/2/2008 10:29:25 AM7
