The stripe is really just an inserted shape sized to fit on the sheet (page). Here's how to add it to your document: Using your toolbars, "Insert" (rectangular) "shape" and then size to the sheet or section you want to highlight by clicking and holding onto the sides or corners and dragging. Click on the shape and then fill in with selected color. Be sure to use the same color for the shape's outline (lines) as the outline and interior area are two different places. Right click on the shape and select "order" and change to "place behind text". From this point forward, you should be able to type away and over the shape without it getting in the way. Have fun! Here's how to add the stripe as a watermark or background image: In a regular Word document, insert three boxes, the first one a white box resized to cover the entire document (8-1/2" x 11"). On top of it, insert a colored box the color of your stripe and resize it and position it so the left edge is where the left edge of the stripe would be on the document. The top, bottom, and right edges go to the page edges. Add a third white box and position/size it to be the "white space" to the right of the stripe. When you are done, you should have a "white page with a red stripe". Next, "select all" and group the three boxes into one object. Cut the object and paste it into Microsoft Paint. Save the Paint image as stripe.jpg or stripe.jpeg. Back in your original Word document, insert your stripe.jpg into the document as a watermark but ensure it is scaled to 100% and the transparency is turned off. When you exit the watermark tool and go back into the regular document, your stripe should be there in the background. Save your document! Whenever you open the document, all pages will have the stripe in the background... Good luck! Anonymous on 9/2/2010 11:15:58 AM
To add a color stripe to your document, click on the INSERT tab, in the TEXT group, click on the TEXT BOX icon, select one of the pre-designed forms. Please let me know if that worked for you. Irene Matthews on 9/2/2010 6:47:58 AM
Just insert a text box. Adjust the size of the text box to your desired length and width. Hover on the line of the text box and right-click and select "Format Text Box". Choose your color. Remove the outline if necessary on the same option screen. Gerrylynn Gibson on 9/1/2010 2:43:46 PM
OK, sorry about that! .. I just re-read what you typed... you already know how to do the background.. If you want to apply the stripe, then you could format it as a table, then drag it down and over to cover the entire page.. Kathie A on 9/1/2010 2:09:23 PM
It would be more cost effective if you could print on colored paper. The paper is cheaper than the ink. Masterg on 9/1/2010 2:09:17 PM
Hi Victoria: In Word 2003- Select Format, background, select your background. Once selected go to Tools, Options, Print and in the "include with document" option, click on the background colors and images. This will enable the background to print (otherwise the background may show on the screen, but not print). Have Fun! Kathie A on 9/1/2010 1:59:16 PM
Hi, to apply color to the entire document just: Go to Format-background- and choose color, however, make sure it prints out in the color. Another trick I use is I insert a textbox and apply a color using the drawing toolbar. That is in word only. Hope that helps. TinkS on 9/1/2010 1:56:44 PM
I wonder if it could be a page border. If you have Word 2007, click the Page Layout tab, then select Page Borders. See if there is a right side border and, if so, click it to turn it off. If you have a prior version, select the Borders & Shading option and then the Page Borders tab. Hope this helps! Stacie de Lespine McGill on 9/1/2010 1:00:02 PM
