Hi. FastTrack is a great project scheduling software that can be used to list out projects by activity; you give each activity a timeline. You can track the resources (suppliers, staff, equipment, etc.) that are tied to each task or activity. You can also keep track of the costs involved with each task. You link each activity so that if a particular activity does not happen as scheduled, when you change the date of that activity to the new date, the entire project's timeline can be moved to coincide with that delay so you know when your new end date is. You can put milestones down on the schedule to show important deadline dates that need to be met. It's too involved to explain here, and there are many benefits to it...but if you are looking for a scheduling system other than MS Project, this one is great. Terry Killian on 6/20/2010 8:16:54 PM
I'm also interested in any suggestions for project management tools and/or software. My boss would like me to keep track of all deliverables for his staff, on an ongoing, daily basis. on 5/25/2010 1:38:16 PM
I suggest you first outline all the expectations from each department or individual, what is due and when. In your email create a template as a reminder to each and indicate what is due, when, etc. Then draft emails to everyone and cc: yourself and make sure to allow plenty of time from when you indicate to send and the project is due. Everytime your email sends the reminder, you will also be reminded of what is due and from whom. Once you have received the completed information, you can cancel the reminder. I use this for long term projects to remind them and me to stay on top of it to complete in plenty of time. It also serves as a CYA if the boss asks if you are staying on top of things. Hope this helps. TinkS on 4/19/2010 9:24:08 AM
