iPhone and Calendaring

Hi! If anyone is using the iPhone with a calendar system, I would be greatly interested to hear what you are using and how satisfied you are with it. My boss uses an iPhone for his phone and calendar. For the calendar, we use an Apple application, Mobile Me. It allows two of us in the office to simultaneously have his calendar open on our PCs....a very nice feature! When we make changes, they are automatically updated to his iPhone; when he makes changes, they are automatically updated to the Mobile Me. However, we recently have been having issues with the calendar reverting to previous days (losing all the current information)...what a nightmare!!!! We spoke with a senior rep at Mobile Me who told us that our issues relate to: 1) Not using a Mac, 2) making too many changes and, 3) setting up recurring events. Well, we are not planning to purchase Macs for the office, we cannot help it that there are many changes, and we don't want to individually set up every recurring meeting! Therefore, we are looking for an alternative calendar system to use with the iPhone. Thanks for your suggestions! Denise

Hi, my office uses blackberries along with outlook and an on line calendar called AirSet. It works for us. I don't know how it would work with an iphone. RG on 1/21/2010 4:20:58 PM
Hi there. Our firm has about 15 people using the iPhone with calendar, email and contacts from Outlook on the exchange account. All exectuive/partner level and myself. (Someone has to teach them how to use it) We've loved it. The only real complaint is that we've had some issues were some appointments show up on some iPhone user calendars and not others. It's been more noticable for appointments that mutiple attendees are invited. It's not been a huge issue that we've had to "investigate' to deeply, very minor, maybe one appointment out of 300. But overall I would rate it 9.8 out of 10. It sync over the air, not connecting hard wire. I love being able to set appt while my executive is out for that same afternoon and the address and all the contact info is already in the appt for him. Same with any contacts I add. Our college uses Zimbra for calendaring. Many users on campus use the iPhone, and I hear that the syncing works without problems, including on PC's. My own boss uses a Treo, so I can't say for certain how immune it is to the kinds of problems you mentioned with the Mac app, though I'm sure we'd be hearing all kinds of complaints if it wasn't working for recurring events. Good luck. Anonymous on 1/21/2010 12:36:28 PM
Hi. I use google as my main calendar and the iPhone installed calendar, and when I update the iPhone calendar using the iPhone or when updating through google from the desktop, they now sync together automatically. This is somewhat of a new feature to both google and the iPhone. It has been working great! Hope this helps! Kathy J. on 1/21/2010 9:50:33 AM
